Made by us, start to finish

We make it. We don’t buy it in.

Many treat brands sell stock made by someone else. Every Frappie is made in our own unit on the outskirts of Hyderabad, by our own small team, from ingredients we buy ourselves.

The chicken line

Five steps, about a day

DeliveryFresh chicken arrives the same morning, on ice, from a supplier our kennel has used for over ten years.
PrepFeet are scalded, peeled and nails clipped. Necks are trimmed of loose skin and fat. Liver is checked piece by piece.
BlanchEvery batch is cooked until the thickest piece is done right through. We probe it rather than guess.
Dry8 to 14 hours depending on the cut, at temperatures that fall as the treat dries.
Check and packWeighed, snap-tested, then sealed with a food-grade moisture absorber.
The Garden Range

Steam, slice, dry

MarketSweet potato, pumpkin and bananas bought in Hyderabad and used within a day.
PrepScrubbed, peeled where needed and cut to an even thickness so every piece dries the same.
SteamA few minutes of steaming keeps the colour and helps it dry evenly. Bananas get a quick lemon dip instead.
Dry10 to 12 hours, low and slow, with the vents open to carry the water away.
Check and packEach batch is tested by feel and snap, then sealed the same day.
Chicken days and veg days

The two lines never share a day.

In these early months both lines are made in the same dryer, on separate days. Between a chicken day and a veg day, the dryer, trays and tools are fully washed down, and the Garden Range is packed on its own.

We will give the Garden Range its own room and dryer as the business grows, and we will say so here when we do. Until then, if your dog has a severe chicken allergy, speak to your vet before trying the Garden Range.

How we know a batch is right

WeighedEvery batch is weighed before and after drying. If it hasn’t lost enough water, it isn’t done.
BrokenWe snap the thickest piece in every batch. It has to be dry right to the middle.
Sealed dryPacked in a dry room with a food-grade moisture absorber, and heat-sealed.
TraceableEvery pack carries a batch number and best-before date, so we can trace it back to the day it was made.

New treats only go on sale after three good batches in a row. That’s why some products say “coming soon”.
